Data Connections is tackling the data center “over cooling problem” by providing an inventive suite of passive airflow control products that reduce wasted fan power.

Charlotte, NC, July 23, 2009 –(PR.com)– Data Connections Inc., A leading provider of innovative IT infrastructure solutions since 1984, launched a new, low tech solution set to improve energy efficiency in data centers. Data Connections is tackling the data center “over cooling problem” by providing an inventive suite of passive airflow control products that reduce wasted fan power. The solution set uses simple, easy to install air barriers to block cooling air from escaping the data center and direct it only to the data center computers where it is needed. This passive airflow improvement approach solves the over cooling problem at a fraction of the costs of current solutions.

Data Connections has partnered with Polargy, the manufacturer of these innovative airflow products, to bring this low cost energy efficiency solution to the market. Data Connections will combine its market reach and cooling competence with Polargy’s passive airflow products to bring energy efficiency to data centers in the Education, Government, and Commercial segments.

Polargy’s PolarPlex™ Containment Systems and PolarDAM™ bypass air sealing products equip Data Connections with improved technological and cost advantages. “These new solutions, combined with the AdaptivCool™ and Plenaform™ products already in our portfolio, enhance our ability to give our clients the highest level of airflow optimization in their Data Centers” said Fritz Menchinger, President of Data Connections. “Our clients will see immediate results in increasing airflow to servers, elimination of recirculation and lower air conditioning bills.” Cary Frame, CEO of Polargy added, “We are thrilled to have Data Connections as a channel partner for our East Coast customers because they possess the motivation to help reduce energy consumption and the competency to deliver on that goal.”

About Polargy
Polargy is an energy efficiency company that provides airflow management solutions for mission critical data centers. Polargy’s product portfolio includes PolarPlex™ Containment Systems, PolarRack™ server cabinets, and the PolarDAM™ family of cooling accessories. Polargy’s competence in air flow management helps data center operators and facilities managers achieve energy efficiency gains and reduce the carbon footprint of their data centers.

Data Connections Inc. announced today a Channel Partnership with NComputing, the leading provider of ultra-low-cost computing. Data Connections will provide sales and engineering support of the NComputing low cost computing solutions to Education, Government and Commercial clients throughout the eastern U.S. The NComputing solution is based on a simple fact: today’s PCs are so powerful that the vast majority of applications only use a small fraction of the computer’s capacity. NComputing enables a single PC to be virtualized so that many users can tap the unused capacity and share it as if each person had their own computer. More than one million NComputing seats have been deployed by 25,000 organizations in more than 100 countries.

“The NComputing solution strengthens our position as a leading Integrator in the Desktop Virtualization market” said Fritz Menchinger, President of Data Connections, “Our recent success with enterprise Virtual Desktop deployments alerted us to the need for an ultra low cost solution as well. NComputing fills that void.”
